Attention: RUS and NTIA announce the opening of the Proposed Funded Service Area comment period for Round 2 Applications
NTIA and RUS have announced the opening of the voluntary comment periods for existing broadband service providers to submit information about the broadband services they currently offer in their respective service territories.
The 30 day RUS Broadband Initiatives Program (BIP) window was announced April 22nd and the 25 day NTIA Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) window was announced April 15th.
If you plan on filing incumbent responses based on overlap with a Broadband Stimulus Applicant (BTOP or BIP) Proposed Funded Service Area (PFSA), and are concerned about the effort required to identify census block groups or tracts and map the overlapping providers within the limited timeframes provided by NTIA and RUS, BBCGI has a fast and cost-effective solution that we'd like to share with you.
NTIA Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) Assistance
- BBCGi can work with incumbents to determine which Census Tracts/Block Groups you serve.
- BBCGi can match an incumbent's Census Tracts/Block Groups against all 800+ BTOP applications (cost effectively and quickly) and highlight any applications that overlap your service territory.
- BBCGi can also assist with generating the data and information required in the incumbent response once the overlap information is in hand.
RUS Broadband Initiatives Program (BIP) Assistance
- BBCGi has automated scripts that download all of the RUS information. Once downloaded, BBCGi can quickly determine any potential overlap to aid in developing a response strategy.
- BBCGi has automated scripts that can quickly and cost effectively upload maps on behalf of incumbents to highlight areas that already have access to 5Mbps service.
- BBCGi has significant experience with the Silverlight application used by the RUS Online Mapping Tool and have successfully input maps for multiple clients.
- All of this can be accomplished within the expected thirty day window for RUS
