Broadband Consulting Group (BBCGi) announces "Map-o-Matic" map generation service for RUS Broadband Initiatives Program (BIP).
COLUMBIA, Missouri (April 26, 2010) - Broadband Consulting Group (BBCGi) has announced the launch of a map generation service that eliminates the need to manually draw service area maps in the RUS Online Mapping Tool. BBCGi's proprietary map generation tool (dubbed "Map-o-Matic") utilizes latitude and longitude map coordinates for any complex service area (including multiple holes and cutouts) and automatically inputs accurate RUS maps in a matter of minutes.
BBCGi saw the need for a service to automate the creation of maps in the RUS Mapping Tool after supporting clients through the first two rounds of the RUS Broadband Initiatives Program.
"The feedback we received regarding the RUS Mapping Tool, from both applicants and incumbent service providers, showed that creating maps in the online tool was a time consuming process that could benefit from automation. So, in an effort to support our clients during Round 2 of the RUS Broadband Initiatives Program (BIP), we developed a tool that allowed us to quickly create and input service area maps without having to draw each one manually," says BBCGi President Eric Fogle.
"Now that the applications period has closed and we have entered into the Public Comments phase of the program, we are well positioned to help our clients meet the limited public comment timeframe provided by RUS. BBCGi can immediately provide a list of all applicants and their service areas that overlap a specific incumbent. Then, using the Map-o-Matic service, we can quickly and cost-effectively input their service area maps into the RUS Mapping Tool. This service will save hours of time manually searching through the RUS database and creating service area maps online."
